extended spotting prior to cycle & back pain - Hormone Problems Message Board

I'm hoping anybody might hve some insight to this. On Jan, 1th I started spotting, all the way until Jan. 29 when AF started. Again this month I started spotting Feb. 14th, kept spotting until Jan. 23rd when AF started. The spotting, usually can fill up a light tampon through out the day, sometimes a medium. It is either brown older blood or light red in the beginning, progressing to a darker red as AF begins.

I've had lower back pain,right above my buttocks, which seems to be associated with the menstrual cycles, or pre-menstrual pain.

I am not sure that I am even ovulating. As I've not had any egg-white like discharge in quite sometime now. This is not a normal pattern for me. And the back pain is still going on today after my cycle has ended, and it is quite uncomfortable. ALmost throbbing like.

Does this sound like a hormonal imbalance? I'm not sure what ot make of it, but can't get into see my doctor (gyn)for another week and half.
Any thoughts?

Any thoughts? Anyone.. the back pain is driving me crazy..

I'm miserable. And oddly enough. Midol seems to be the only thing that works!!

Hi,
This sounds very much like endometriosis. You will get spotting a few days before your period and also the bad lower back pains. The only way its diagnosed is through laparoscopy surgery. Go to your gyno and talk about this with him. I had two surgeries for this.
