Who is telling you to take DHEA in response to FSH? Is this a doctor? How high is the FSH and at what part of the cycle?

Re: DHEA for high FSH - how much should I take?

hi - well, I've been reading about DHEA on different sites and how it lowers FSH as well as improving egg quantity per cycle. I see my doctor next month and left a voicemail for her to call me - I'll discuss it with her definitely. My FSH was 22.5 last October and I have not had a test since. I am currently doing acupuncture/herbs/wheatgrass to lower it.

Re: DHEA for high FSH - how much should I take?

I am not sure how to answer your question... but I can give you more information that I know from taking DHEA. I take it as I have no adrenals and no ovaries. DHEA is made by the adrenals. It is a precursor hormone for both testosterone and estrogen. You do not get to choose which one it converts to and it can convert to both or just one. Too much DHEA will give you greasy skin and acne for sure and it can happen on a very low dose. Even with no adrenals.

The pituitary will sense if you have estrogen (estradiol) and give you LH / FSH in return... all of this is in a feedback loop depending on the time of cycle and they all differ by time of month.

I am not sure why you need to lower your FSH. But without a range (every lab varies), I cannot tell if that is so high...Good luck to you.
