High Serum Cortisol
hi, new to board. my doctor is sending me to an endocronologist because of fasting serum cortisol level 27.6 (range 5.0-20.0). Serum ACTH was 18 (range 7-69). Is the cortisol so high (with normal ACTH) that it indicates Cushings? Tests were done at 11 am (was up at 6 am).
Could this have affected the test: 1/2 hour before test I became very faint while sitting, swetting all over. they had me lie down, and 15 minutes before they drew blood they gave me orange juice, and by that time I felt better.
My doctor appt had been because of repeated low serum sodium (130 and lower) and low chloride (94 and lower), and skin discoleration in face (brownze and gray) - doctor had thought might be addisons.
Any help is appreciated, thank you.
