Need help with labwork questions
Early this spring I went to see my Dr. because I was tired all the time, no energy, no motivation, no strength. The last 4 or 5 years have been a slow downward spiral into hell. No wood or limp wood at best. Used to run 3-6 miles 3 or 4 times per week, weightlifted, played basketball, etc. I've aged 20 years and gained 60 pounds in the last 5 years. Been on an antidepressant for about 10 years. So, to the doc. My thyroid was fine, no sign of diabetes. The only lab that was low was my testosterone, at 238. We discussed it, he thought it wasn't the best idea to address it at the time. So, tried to diet over the summer, dismal failure. Lost weight, but put it right back on and then some. Walked every evening, perked me up a bit. But still, I'd get out of bed in the morning, and would be tired by noon, sometimes earlier, couldn't get through the day without a nap (sometimes 2). Finally went back, explained my failed attempts to restart my engine, asked for testosterone replacement.
Three days ago, I started Androgel. Had labs drawn today at work, to check my LH, FSH, and Estradiol. All were normal. So, all labwork normal except for the testosterone.
By the way, after 3 days of the Androgel, two pumps each morning, I already feel better, peppier, snappier, had morning wood today ;}, don't think its a placebo effect.
So my question is, why is my T low and what now?
