Very bloated face and high cortisol levels
Hi I'm posting this in this section now it seems more likely that I have a cortisol problem.
I have been suffering with a very bloated and puffy face for a while now. I am an athlete and my body is very lean just my face is very round.
I went to the doctor and he took some blood to test and these were the results.
Test / Value / Range
Glucose/ 101(high)/ 65-99
Bilirubin, total / 1.6 (high) / 0.2-1.1mg/dL
Cholesterol, total / 181 (high) / 125-170mg/dl
hdl cholesterol 77 / (high) / 31-65mg/dl
TSH / 1.24 / 0.5-4.30 mIU/L
T4, total / 4.8 (low) / 5.6-14.9 mcg/dl
T3, total / 65 (low) / 76-181 ng/dL
Cortisol, total, serum / 22.0 (high) / AM: 4.0-22.0 mcg/dL or PM: 3.0-17.0 mcg/dL
Age: 19 Collected: 12/29/12, 12:11
He then referred me to the endo who ran more tests which can be seen here
My total t3 t4 are still on the low end but since my free t3/t4 are ok the doc said its fine.
This is the 2nd part that shows the low TBG and high Cortisol. I know athletes tend to have higher cortisol levels but 68 points out of the reference range seems very high. My endo says the next step is to take a dexamethasone suppresion test and see the results.
Any thoughts or input of any kind would be appreciated.
