HPV Update!!!

Hi there, I previousely posted here stating my little encounter with the girl who told me she had HPV and I so stupidly had sex with her when I was drunk anyway.

Well... The bumps I was talking about turned out to really be just pimples! I dont see any other bumps now, and those pimples have died down and gone away.

I see no signs of HPV whatsoever, the girl told me I could sleep with her and not get it, that she hasn't had an outbreak for months, and that she is sure I wouldn't get it, maybe she was right?

Every day I woke up HPV was the first thing on my mind, now finally my hopes are up that I dont have it at all!!!

Should I still get checked? If there are no visible signs will a test still show if I have it or not?

And, I fealt a little patch of bumps inside her vagina, could this just have been normal? (Girl question I guess).

Thanks for the help, I really hope I dont have it, good luck to all of you, and hopefully they find a cure for this disgusting STD soon, because from the looks of it a lot of people have it.

Peace and love, Kastro.

Re: HPV Update!!!

It's hard to say if you have them or not... it's alot harder to diagnose men than woman...the fact that you know she had them and you had sex with her puts you at a greater risk.. this is what I have found from the cancer society: Incubation Period - The time from infection until you have any signs (e.g. a wart or abnormal Pap smear) is both long and variable. It may be anywhere from a few weeks to more than 1 year. In addition, any changes that do occur may not be noticed for additional months or years. Thus, it is often extremely difficult or impossible to figure out who infected whom.

HPV infection is extremely common.
- It is estimated that at any given time 20-40 million Americans are infected.
- Over a typical college career approximately 60% of sexually active women will become infected. While it is assumed that a similar number of men are also infected, there are no good statistics as it is harder to test for HPV in men than women.

Cancer of the cervix is almost always caused by HPV infection (high risk strains).

Since HPV is transmitted by close genital contact, condoms provide some, but little, protection against infection.

There is no test that can guarantee that anyone (particularly men) are not infected with HPV.

HPV infection is particularly serious in those with an immune disorder (e.g. HIV/AIDS)

Symptoms:

Often none at all. Rarely painful or itchy.

Warts - may not be present but when they are they tend to grow in the genital area in both men and women. In addition, they may be seen in or around the urethra, anus and sometimes the mouth, lips, tongue and throat.

Diagnosis:

In Women - Diagnosed either by a Pap test which suggests HPV and is then confirmed by a second test, or by the presence of visible warts.

In Men - May only be diagnosed if warts can be seen. A vinegar solution is sometimes applied to the skin to help visualize flat warts.

So I think you should see your doctor and bring up they concerns and what you have posted from before.. and lay off the alcohol.. if you are drinking and it is putting you in these situations then you should rethink your drinking... there are ALOT of other things out there you could get that are deadly...
good luck!

Re: HPV Update!!!

Do you think there is a chance that I didnt get it?

And, even if I somehow got it, I can keep it under control right, its not a big deal? Or will it be noticeable??

Re: HPV Update!!!

If you do have it...yes you can keep it under control... as far as if you have it or not I can not say...all I can say is see the doctor...see if they can detect anything... the fact that she told you she had them..and then you think that she may have had the warts when you slept with her because of the bumps you were feeling in her.. then yeah there is a good chance you could have gotten them... I never had warts..just the the virus..my husband has never had them..I found out when i was 16 that I had HPV...and I will soon be 30...it's something you can deal with... more or less if she had an outbreak of warts...and you had sex with her..then yes..you were exposed to the virus...
