My doctor said it mainly gets passes through sexual contact. Is this true?

Can someone pick it up from a toilet, or a hug (clothed hug!) I just wonder how contagious it is. What are the chances of it being passed without a sexual activity going on?

It's never been proven that you can pick up hpv from a toilet seat... I think it's highly unlikely, I wouldn't worry about it. I'd also say there's no way possible that you could pass it on through a hug with your clothes on. It's skin to skin contact that passes it. If you could get it from a toilet seat or through clothed contact with someone everyone would be walking around covered in warts. I've had hpv for just over a year and am in close contact with my young son all the time son and he doesn't have it. I've also had unprotected sex with my husband this whole year and even he doesn't have it. I wouldn't worry too much about it - although I KNOW that's hard to do.

is it only passed when there is an actual wart? or can it be passed with no warts at all?

There does not have to be visible warts to pass it. One can have it and not know; and it can take years to show up. It is unlikely to be passed without some sort of sexual contact, be it intercourse or via fingering, but it is not imposible. Given that it can take years to show, it is difficult to prove with 100% certainty that someone has been unfaithful (unless you were virigns when you met).

So what would the chances be that I passed it to someone considering the following....

We've been together about 10 times total. 1 time the condom broke. 1 time we didnt use a condom. (im still mad at myself for) The other times a condom was used. I like this girl, and dont want her to have gotten it.

What do you think the chances are I passed it to her?
