Questions about freezing/acid treatment for HPV - Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Message Board

For anybody that has experience with freezing off their warts or burning them off with acid. How does the procedure work and how does the wart react to the process? I imagine that with the acid the wart just desintigrates. With feezing though does the wart just fall off or what? Is there any skin discoloration or scaring? If so, how long does it take to heal?

Well with my experience, I had my warts burned off about a week and a half ago. I was very scared and thought I was going to scream, im not going to lie, it hurts, it just all depends on your tolerance level for pain, my level for pain is so-so. I had about 2 huge ones and about 5 small ones. My doctor used the end of the wodden q-tip and dipped it in the acid and applied it like that. Doesnt take long. After that they apply some cream to help prevent infection, then they apply the cooling gel. It will scab up and then fall off, I was told to use cold cream with no scent soap to wash the genitial areas. Healing time is.. well they said a week to 10 days but for me its still healing.

I had warts burnt off with acid back in December. It was very painful and the healing takes quite awhile. It will be about a month or 2 before your healed up enough to have sex, at least that was my experience. I had a few on the inside and about 4 or 5 on the outside. The warts just kind of disinigrate and come off during treatment. You will notice some of your skin will peel off and if you get treatment inside of you you might notice some dead skin come out. Nothing to worry about, it's just your skin healing. But make sure a couple hours after your treatment to soak in a lukewarm bath to rid of the remaining acid because if you don't you will get a chemical burn like I did and THAT took FOREVER to heal and it was very painful. Tells us how you are feeling after your treatment! Good luck!

Thanks for the information thus far! I would also like to hear from people that have had their warts frozen off. How does that work? Do the warts just fall off or do they disintigrate like with acid? Is it painful? Healing time?
