Quick HPV Question?

I have strain #16, had abnormal biopsies, had LEEP, and now I'm in my 8th year with normal paps.

If I have protected intercourse with a condom, what's the possibility of me catching a different strain from someone?

Does protected sex mean protected against STD??

Re: Quick HPV Question?

From the research that I've done, condoms help but by no means prevent the spread of HPV. Apparently it lives on areas of the genitalia which the condom doesn't cover so any skin to skin contact can cause it to spread from one person to another. I'm doing an interview right now with one of the leading HPV physicians in the country on the many misconceptions about HPV. I'm going to pass along what I learn to this board as well as put together a series of articles to pitch to both womens and health mags in an effort to educate more women on the facts. Since there's no test (that I know of) for men to see if they have HPV, the best bet is to get and stay in a monogomous relationship. Even then, you aren't guaranteed your new partner won't infect you with a different strain. Basically, the whole thing stinks!
