| HPV questions
Hi everyone... I just wanted to say thanks to all who replied to my post a couple weeks ago (I'm the one who recently had a baby and had my post-partum pap come back abnormal). Your replies really helped me out! I just have a few more questions regarding HPV that I couldn't find the answers to online. I go in for my colposcopy tomorrow afternoon and I'm praying they don't even find anything to take a biopsy of... but I have this sinking feeling that I DO have HPV. So here are my questions:
If I do have HPV, it'd be cervical HPV. I've never had any warts. So if *I* don't have or get any warts from it, is there any chance my boyfriend could get warts from it? From what I understand, only certain strains cause warts (the others don't), so if I don't have them, he shouldn't get them either, right?
I read somewhere that treatment is sometimes not even necessary for HPV (depending on how advanced or high-risk it is, of course). Say someone has a mild to moderate case of it. What treatment would be done for that? I'm hoping that if I do have it, I only have to get my cells frozen. I'm really not looking forward to a cone biopsy or LEEP.
After treatment, do paps usually start coming back normal again? If so, once they do start coming back normal, is there a chance they could ever turn up abnormal again (assuming the person never acquired any other strains of HPV). Basically what I'm asking is, once I'd start getting normal paps again, am I in the clear? (I know that I'll never really get rid of the virus; my body just builds up an immunity to it but I'm still a carrier).
Thanks everyone! I'll let you all know how the colposcopy goes and if they take a biopsy.
