If you have warts, you have HPV, no two ways about it. But just because you have warts/HPV, it does not mean you will get an abnormal PAP. An abnormal PAP is the usual result of having HPV but not all strains of HPV show up on the cervix. I'm sure this sounds confusing, but basically, the strains of HPV that cause genital warts, are NOT the kind that cause cervical cancer. You have probably been lucky (if you could call it that) to have the type that does not cause cervical problems.
