I Recently Went To Planned Parenthood For A Pap Smear Due To Some Abnormal Discharge. After About Two Weeks, The Receptionist Called And Said I Tested Positive For Hpv And To Come Back For A Colopscopy. I Went For The Colopscopy And It Came Back Negative. I'm Wondering If I Should Get A Second Opinion Because The Doctor Didn't Tell Me What Kind Of Strain I Had Or What Kind Of Test They Used, Nothing. They Did Not Discuss Anything With Me. Im Just Kind Of Skeptical Especially Since A Physician's Assistant In Training Conducted The Pap Smear. Should I See A Gynocologist?

If it makes you feel better, go see a gyno. As for the assistant-in-training taking your smear, that might be true, but it was a lab that conducted the tests on it. His/her part was minor. And as for not being told what strain, that involves DNA testing so unless you have a positive from the colposcopy, it isn't usually done. Maybe you can call Planned Parenthood back and ask them these questions. Did you ask them any at the time?
