I'm scheduled this Thursday to have this procedure done and I'm kind of nervous. This is due to my second pap smear (6 mo. apart) showing abnormal cells. Does anyone have any experience with this? What can I expect? I've read online and it's scaring me even more (thank-you internet) perhaps, I'm getting upset over nothing. But, the idea of cramping, a warming/cold sensation and the idea of the cells dropping off and having a discharge for 2-3weeks, sounds like no fun! Any thoughts, anyone????

My Dr. did this when I had my colposcopy done. It didn't hurt very badly, just a pulling sensation and a pinch. The discharge was kinda gross, but didn't last very long, for me at least. Good luck!!

I had it done last year. Exactly what Morrisun said, felt like a pinch (well, several pinches) and it was over. The discharge wasn't too bad for me either, lasted only a day or two. Don't stress!

Thank you both morrissun & innerstrength - you have eased my mind. I guess what I've read online was worse case scenario. Sometimes, too much internet can be a bad thing, due to the overwhelming information. I do have a tendenancy to think the worst, only to mentally prepare myself, but 8 times our of 10 it's never really that bad.
