Hello Everyone. I am a newby. I have HPV. I'm 33 and just had a LEEP procedure on May 17th after a PAP came back high grade dysplasia. I am anxiously awaiting my results
I've been doing tons of research on HPV as many of us have on this site, and keep nerve wreckingly coming across findings that say women who have higher occurrences of dysplasia (CIN III) and CIS , or whose condition has progressed rather rapidly from a low-grade to a high grade, are women who are likely infected with HIV. Is there any truth to this? I was diagnosed with HPV in July of 2006, had a colpo/biopsy in August which came back CIN 1, VIN 1. A week later I had a Rapid HIV test that was NEGATIVE. In November of the same year I had another PAP that came back low/mod dysplasia with a colpo/biopsy of CIN I and VIN II. I was receiving free treatment at the time and after the dr saw that my condition was progressing he politely dumped me as a patient
Anyway, I scrambled to find a new dr, found one, and in March of 2007 my PAP came back high grade dyplasia with a high grade lesion being found on my cervix after pathology findings. So the drs. at the new clinic wanted me to get another HIV test because there was a concern over how quickly my condition was progressing. Well this freaked me out and to make a long story short, I didn't get the test. I am really frightened. I don't believe i have it, but the fact that this has progressed in just 8 months leaves a question mark in my head. So to get to my question(s) finally:
1). Is there an HIV/HPV correlation?
2). Is it "normal" for dysplasia to progress so quickly?
3). Should I be concerned?
Thank you for letting me go on. Any advise will be much appreciated.
LOVE.
