HPV and Oral Sex!

How safe is it for a man to perform oral sex on a woman if she has HPV?

You know what, I have no idea! I have seen this topic come up time and again, but it's never been one that I've done alot of research on. I'm sure there is information out there though. Have I recieved, oh yeah, and are we worried? Not really. You don't really hear alot about people getting mouth cancer = doesn't mean it doesn't happen, it does, but you just don't hear about it much. Guess maybe I'll have to read a bit ... like I said, I've just never really thought much about it.

I really don't think it's risky at all, I've never heard anything of the kind! I think maybe if you have a low-risk strain that causes a wart outbreak then maybe then it'd be best to avoid oral sex during that time (I think there's a chance the man could get oral condyloma). But if you have a high-risk strain, then I don't see how that could adversely affect the man at all. I really don't think it's something to worry too much about! So go ahead and enjoy!

IMO, not safe at all if warts are visible.. it there are no warts, no lesions or other tender lumpy things that can get open go for it.

Cuople of months ago, I'd have probably said it's all safe, whatever you do, considering that people have much more sever condition than this common virus. But, I read in this board about a woman who was infected with HPV (the high risk strains) and she got tonsil cancer beacuse of HPV! She did not know which speccific strains caused her that, and it might be entirely unrelated to our condition, yet something to think about. I don't want to freak out anyone, just something to keep in mind....use your discretion when both giving and recieving
