| Re: whats next? cone biopsy?
Hi there,
Like K said, a LEEP or cone biopsy is much too aggressive a treatment for mild dysplasia. If I were you, I'd seek a second opinion and see what a different doctor would recommend.
I, too, have been having abnormal paps for a couple of years now with no dysplasia until this past May-- my biopsy showed mild-moderate dysplasia. One doctor I saw said to get a LEEP, another doc said to hold off on the LEEP, and so I will be seeking a 3rd opinion this Friday. Thus, you can see why it's important to get different doctors' opinions if you feel uncomfortable with your treatment recommendation.
But since you only have mild dysplasia, it is likely that your body will take care of it on its own. However, there are MANY things you can change in your lifestyle and diet that will aid your body in ridding itself of the bad cells and in suppressing the HPV. Check out the other thread "Health regimen for CIN I-II" to get some tips (vitamins, food choices, etc) on how to boost your immune system so it can suppress the virus.
I'm not sure why your doc suggested a cone biopsy! That's more aggressive than a LEEP as it removes tissue up into your cervical canal! Did your biopsy show dysplasia inside the canal? In any case, I've never heard of anyone getting a cone biopsy for anything less than CIN III with endocervical dysplasia. Definitely ask another doc! Take care and don't stress- mild dysplasia most often spontaneously regresses.
