So guys after getting a couple biopsies taken about 2 weeks ago (I was diagnosed hpv positive high risk and pap showed mild dysplasia, LGSIL, CIN I) I called the doc and a nurse told me the doc said not to worry that she will talk about my treatment options on my appointment and that she says it was the results she thought it would be..I asked her what is the results she said well I dont know she just told me that. Well that helps alot huh?!?! I go back Sept 7th so I have to wait til then

But my doc told me when I went for the colposcopythat she thought all I needed was cryosurgery for two small areas and LGSIL. But after reading on the internet if you have LGSIL that most docs treat it with another pap in a couple months to see if it heals on its own. I am confused.

I hate waiting but I guess it is good news right since my doc said it was what she told me LGSIL. And to top it all off I am stressed out about it and my best friend isnt helping telling me she doesnt understand why this would show up after 4 yrs of being in a long term relationship(she thinks my hubby cheated) nice huh! I heard they can do leep on small areas and I think it would be better to get that done instead of cyrosurgery. I heard cryo isnt that good of a treatment...Any help?

Hi,

It's highly doubtful (but always possible, I guess) that your hubby cheated. HPV can lie dormant in your body for years. In addition, up to 80% of the sexually active population have it and don't even know it. So I wouldn't worry on that account.

Mild dysplasia (LGSIL or CIN I) is very treatable usually always 100% of the time. As you said, most doctors just take a wait-and-see course with it to see if it heals on it's own. I'm not sure why your doctor is talking cryosurgery (unless maybe she has a boat payment due - just kidding!) You might want to get a second opinion though from another gyn or maybe from a gyn/oncologist.

she needs to get more information about how this virus works.

I was married for four years, with my husband for two and a half years before that. Neither of us were unfaithful. It happens. Print some information off about the virus being dormant and appearing later even in monogamous relationships and give it to your friend.

Unfortunately with all the press the virus is getting due to the vaccine, people read snippets of information and form opinions on the subject without a whole lot of information. For example, you still read mostly about this happening to women who have neglected getting their smears. NOT true! I went annually for my smears, I may have gone 14 months in between, but I certainly did not skip several years. for whatever reason, it showed up and we dealt with it. Take this opportunity to educate your friend (and maybe let her know how UNhelpful it is for her to suggest that your partner has been unfaithful...how would SHE feel if it were the other way around???)

sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Many, many things going on in my life right now.

I always hesitate to talk about my situation, so before I start I will preface by saying what happened to me is NOT usual. My smear came back showing a high grade lesion, the colposcopy and biopsies indicated a high grade lesion. The subsequent leep revealed a 2mm invasion, so I was categorized as stage 1a1. This is best case scenario if you are going to have an invasion. Usually leep with clear margins is considered "cure" if fertility is an issue, but because I had completed my family I chose to pursue a hysterectomy.

Again, my experience is NOT usual, so please, for anyone reading, do not get freaked out by what happened to me. The chances of it happening to you are very, very slight.
