The link between HPV and oral cancer is mainly involving oral sex, where the HPV infects the cells of the mouth, just as it does our cervical cells.
Most mouth cancers start as sores in the mouth or throat. Bleeding gums is not usually a symptom of oral cancer.
However, if your gums are bleeding, you need to see your dentist. Bleeding gums can be a sign of gingivitis and gum disease, which can cause problems with your teeth.
