hi everybody, so in august i found out that i had high and low risk hpv. i had a colposcopy done and f ound out that i had pre-cancerous cells on the layer of my cervix and i had a couple bumps on my skin that looked like warts but came back as pre-cancerous cells also. So i had my leep procedure and the doctor also lasered off the part of my skin that had the pre-cancer cells on it. Today i went back for my check up to c how everything is healing, it is healing fast n good. But she told me that i had a strong strain of hpv...my cells r changing very fast thats y they turned into pre cancer so fast. Also she checked me n ihave a cumple little warts that have appeared since the surgery that was 2 weeks ago...

is this just gonna keep on appearing or will it stop eventually. and bcz my cells change so fast because of the strong strain of hpv am i mostly like to have more pre cancerous cells again?

When they do the leep surgery the doctor attempts to remove all of the cancerous cells from your cervix. If for any reason some were missed then more cancerous cells can appear and the surgery my have to be done again. But there is hope, if you have to go through the surgery again, at least it was caught early enough and it can be taken care of. You will always have that particular HPV strain in your body, but your bodies immune system will learn to fight it off so it would become cancerous. You will be okay, just keep having your yearly paps. Also your paps many come up abnormal for a while after the surgery, it takes a while sometimes. Good luck, you'll be alright.

HPV stays in your system. The LEEP may remove the precancerous cells, however, there is always the chance of them coming back because of the HPV always being there. Sometimes our body's immune system can "fight it off" and other times we need a little help with a procedure.

The good thing is your doctor knows you have a "high risk" strain and now he/she can watch you and any cerical changes you may have. This usually means more frequent paps, but that's a small price to pay where your health is concerned.

I agree ... see my earlier email from 3 years since CIN2 ... let's hope after the LEEP it never returns. We just have to stay healthy.
