my girlfriend has been told that she has hpv and cervical cancer. We have been together fo a year and a half. She told me that her pap was normal before me. I have no signs of hpv and can't be tested. Is it posible that a pap missed it or that it is just recently showing up? She's convinced I gave it to her and is quite upset!!

HPV can lie dormant in your system for many, many years. I've been married for over 10 years and found out that I had HPV about 2 years ago. I'm sure that I probably was infected before I started dating my husband, but there is no way to ever find out who gave it to who.
