i've read many things online regarding hpv transmission. most say that transmision is from infected skin to uninfected skin contact is how this virus is transmitted. however, because its a virus, can it live on other surfaces and be transmitted that way?

example:

can hpv be transmitted by washing clothes? (washing clothing from an infected person with an uninfected person)

can hpv transmitted in a bath/water? (i.e. bathing with an infected person with no skin to skin/sexual contact)

No--HPV viral transmission is via skin-to-skin contact. Assuming you are concerned with genital HPV (there are also HPV viral types that cause common warts on hands, feet, etc., that are not associated with either genital warts or cervical dysplasia), genital HPV is transmitted from genital-to-gential contact--where the infection is contracted ditrectly from the effected genital skin of the infected partner.
