would the hpv virus that causes plantars warts show up on a test the same way the genital kind would? meaning that if I had a plantar wart and had a hpv test come back positive for the low-risk type, is that just showing the platar wart hpv, or a different kind?

Hi,

The HPV strains which cause genital warts, cervical cancer, and plantars warts are all different. So an HPV test wouldn 't be positive because of a plantar wart.

Actually, it would depend on the kind of test they're doing, because HPV is HPV. If they're checking your cervix, I would guess not.

Actually, there is only one test for HPV. It would not identify plantar warts.

I guess I'm a little confused, then how do they (meaning doctors/researchers) know that plantars warts are caused by HPV? or better yet, how can it? and when doing the DNA test for the virus, is it possible that reguardless of the type that it shows up the same? like the two kinds of herpes. one's that sexually transmitted and the other is like cold sores or something like that, I'm not sure at the moment? both being the same, but different...if that makes any sense, sorry to sound uneducated about this.
