No, unfortunately there's no good way to test men for HPV. When men are diagnosed, it's almost always on the basis of seeing warts. If the bumps went away on their own in just a couple days, they probably were from shaving.

I have heard that genital warts will eventually clear up on their own but it takes sometimes 3 years-- at least according to my doctor. I would think that wearing a condom would be preventative enough but i'm not positive. I"ve also heard ( from my doc) that you should not have oral sex if we were having warts, meaning that they can be spread to your mouth etc.

Re: am i covered

If you do indeed have HPV and have been having sex with your girlfriend, she's certain to have it. HPV is extremely contagious (that's why it's so common). In just one sexual encounter there's a 2/3 chance that it has been passed on.

In the future, condoms will help cut down on transmission, but since HPV is spread by skin-to-skin contact, they won't provide full protection.

Good luck!
