About two to three months ago, I had gone in for my first pap. It took forever for them to get back to me, but when they did, the result came back as "unknown abormalities" so they sent it in to get tested for HPV. well from what I understand, you aren't even supposed to get pap smears done right after you have your period, (which I had just finished that morning) and they continued to go through with it anyway.

when she called she told me not to worry, but I had low risk hpv I was in shock. I have only had one partner, and I can say in complete confidence that I was his only partner as well and Im not being naive about my partners claim, because I know it's a fact. So how is it that I got HPV? Could it be false? Could there have been a mix up?

Are you saying neither of you have ever had any kind of sexual contact with anyone else, whatsoever? Because you don't need to have had intercourse to transmit it. It can be transmitted orally, or just plain ol' skin to skin contact.

yeah, niether of us had any contact with other people. we hold being monogomous (sp?) very dear to both our hearts. the most either of us had done was kissing.

So he has only had sex with you, and never with anyone else?

If that's the case, if either one of you have ever fooled around with someone else, maybe it was just kissing and some touching, there is still a chance one of you contracted HPV. Many STDs are spead by fluids during sex. HPV is not spread only through fluids. It can live on the surface of your skin. I read that some people will have HPV warts on their inner thigh. So in theory, lets say you were kissing someone with HPV and you touched his thighs where he was infected. You could have contracted it that way. Doesn't that really stink?? I'm assuming that this is why the incidence of HPV is so high these days, because even if you're having sex and using a condom, the skin to skin contact could transmit the virus from person to person. No matter how careful you are, you're still at risk.
