Hello all,

I've just spent most of the day reading all the stories from all of you wonderful women who have been dealing with HPV etc. I too have just been through a LEEP (2 days ago) and the word HPV has not come up yet. Although during the procedure I asked the doc "What causes this?" duh! He said, " A virus" hmmm. Will I be informed somehow? Pickle eyes and Jenuine86 I would love to hear from you... Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!

Hi, Destijldes. I highly suggest you take in a written list of questions when you see your doctor next. I'd say the number one question is "have I been tested for HPV? What were the results? Then go from there. I also highly recommend you get a copy of the pathology report. Be proactive. If the doctor is speaking to vaguely ("a virus") or too much medical jargon, ask for better descriptions. If that doesn't work, then I'd get another doctor.

Did he use the term "dysplasia"?
btw.. for some reason it seems the male doctors are idiots... not being sexist.. it's just been my statistic based off observation.. find a gyneo you LIKE and TRUST..
ok.. anyway.. if you really want to know if you have hpv, ask your physician for an HPV test.. if you've already gotten a LEEP (which even I haven't yet) then it sounds like something isn't right.. My boss had similar issues and has had a hysteorectumy (sp? and please don't ask how I know this about my boss!) but she is not HPV positive and the women in her family have had the same problem of adnormal paps..
Never let yourself be out of the loop about what is happening with your body though. That alone is dangerous and if your doctor isn't answering your questions, I recommend you pay someone who can because they will be the kind of person to truly take care of you.. sounds like that guy is "just doing his job" with little concern for you as a person and that would scare me even more.
Anyway.. you don't know what you don't know and if you want to find out if you have hpv, take the test. HPV is responsible for 70% cervical cancer patients they say, but that leaves a good 30% with different causes.. I suppose it's good to find the source of your enemy.. eh?

If you come out negative for HPV, pleeeaaassseee go get the vaccine!
Hope that helps.. You'll have to tell me about the LEEP.. I'm pretty sure one is coming up in my near future and I have to say I am terrified.. you feel ok with it?

Not trying to bust your chops - but just wondering, who told you HPV causes only 70% of cervical cancer?

I've read that HPV causes virtually 100 percent of all cervical cancers.

Point is.. go get tested for HPV. Your symptoms seem to be similar, but if your doctor won't tell you what you have, at least a test will!
How else are you going to know what to expect if you don't know what's wrong with you exactly?
test, test, test and ask 1,000,000 questions and make sure you get all the answers you need in order to understand what's going on. It helps if you are comfortable with your doc.. You wouldn't want someone who didn't know your "style" to cut your hair so why would you want someone who didn't know how to communicate with you, treat you?
Maybe this isn't exactly what you were talking about? I dunno.. does this make sense? does it help? I hope so.
Make sure you have HPV and if you do, figure out how it is affecting you and learn the procedures to come.. and of course we are all here to help you understand that side of it..
