hi there i am writing on behalf of moing out of her mind with worry, she recy sister as she is gently got told she had the hpv virus and had the genital warts removed, she then had a smear and everything was fine but she is convinced that it will lead to cervical cancer, can you help and put her mind at rest
I don't completely understand your question/post, but I think I can give you a little info. Cervical cancer is caused by a different group of HPV than those that cause genital warts. It is entirely possible that she had both high risk (that can lead to cancer) and low risk (that can cause warts).
Yeah, I think your text got rearranged. But from what I can understand, your sister has warts. This is considered low-risk and does not go on to cause cervical cancer. Her pap being clear is a very good sign that she does not have the cancer-causing kind of HPV. However, since she is sexually active, she can always catch the high-risk kind (as we all can, of course) and she should keep up with her pap tests.
Also, even if she DID have high-risk HPV (and there's absolutely NO evidence that she does), this doesn't necessarily mean she'll get cancer (in fact, she probably won't.)
I think that due to the marketing tactics used by the makers of the HPV vaccine many women think HPV=automatic cancer. It doesn't.
