How long can a women have hpv without knowing it? I was tested postive and now my husband thinks I have been sexual with other men, which I haven't been with anyone else for over 10 years (i've been only with him for 16 years)

Someone can be exposed to high risk HPV as long ago as his/her first sexual contact.

It is possible that he is the one who infected you (if he has had any sexual partners other than you in his life time). Of course it is possible you got it from another sexu partner (if you've had any others).

No one knows (unless one was a virgin and has only had sexual contact with one person) how he/she contracts HPV. There is no point in playing a guessing game.

If you have been faithful (and he has) and there are no other reasons to suspect infidelity, then he is just reacting with fear (in my opinion).

I was exposed to high risk HPV at least 16 years ago. It is possible it was as long ago as 26 years. No one knows.

The truth is that since I have the virus, my husband has it too. Regardless of who gave it to whom.

THat is what I thought but need to hear it again I guess. He is being such an a** about this and making it so hard on me. I had a colposcopy yesterday, I will get the results and see the doc next thursday. I know he took 6 samples of abnormal cells and they all were on my cervix. I try and tell him that I may have had it for upteen years and he just doesn't want to believe it.

Unfortunately, you can't make him believe it. It may take him a while to realize you are honest and trustworthy. He probably needs time to process the thoughts.
