Can I spread HPV even though HPV tests have been coming back normal?
I was diagnosed with HPV in 2005...the one that causes abnormal cell changes. I had cryotherapy (freezing of the cervix) and went back for pap smears every 3-6 months ever since then. All of them came back normal. I also had one a month ago and that came back normal too. I've also gotten the vaccine to prevent myself from the other major types of HPV. I'm just curious as to whether I'm pretty safe from passing it over to my boyfriend. I've been with him for over a year now, my pap smears are still coming back normal.

If you were diagnosed with high risk HPV, then it is entirely possible to pass it along, even if the tests are coming back negative. All that means is that the virus isn't currently active. But I'm not positive. Sorry I can't be of more help!
