I am married and just found out i had hpv and there is no way of knowing how long iv had it. but i wanted to know if we can still have oral sex becouse i read that it could make you have mouth cancer of some kind or hpv of the mouth. and also i have kids so if i get it in the mouth i cant give them a kiss or they cant eat or drink after me???
If you have already been having oral sex with your husband, it's a pretty sure bet that if it was going to transfer, it would have done so already. I don't think there'd be a point in changing your habits now.
As for transferring it to you kids with a kiss or a drink, that's something I've read no research on, but I think some organization would have put out some kind of warning by now if it were that simple.
Yes, you can still have oral sex. The HPV virus is very easily passed on from the genital and anal regions, so if you have it, your husband is sure to have it too. While HPV can cause warts in the mouth, that is a rare occurence. Having HPV in the throat does increase your risk of throat cancer, but it's such a rare cancer to begin with that it's really not something to worry about.
Kissing and sharing drinks with your children is fine.
