HPV vaccine

As a parent of a year 8 daughter can you reasure me that the testing done to date has been carried out over a sufficient period of time to satisfy me that there will be no side affects for her fertility and long term health.

Re: HPV vaccine

That is a great question for your doctor. You can also check out the website for the Center for Disease Control in the USA. It might have information about the populations that were tested, for how long, etc.

Re: HPV vaccine

you never know louise. that vaccine is new so pretty much we dont know any long term effects and we wont for years to come. since your daughter is only 8 I would probably hold off. If I remember right you have till your 26 to get the vaccine. I would seriously consider having her wait till she is at least 20 just to see if any side effect become known.

Re: HPV vaccine

I think year 8 in the UK translates (loosely) to the 8th grade in the USA, but I wouldn't swear by it. So about 12-15 years of age.

Re: HPV vaccine

I would still give it a few years to see if any side effects become known. I'm 20 now and decided to get it just cause who knows what could come up

Re: HPV vaccine

I don't think there are ever any guarantees that a vaccine will not cause side effects, you have the rare cases. I got my daughter vaccinated, she was 15 when she started the series. Good luck.

Re: HPV vaccine

There is no one here who can give you the guarantees you are looking for. You have to do your own research and do what you feel is right. Personally, I would do it, but that's just me.

Re: HPV vaccine

very true....everything has side effects. Its kind of a toss up cause you have no idea what the long term ones are. the vaccine is just not worth it to me because of that
