I'm not sure of the laws in England in regard to vaccine requirements. In the US, the only people require to get the vaccine are young girls in certain states that require it.

The vaccine helps protect against the strains of HPV that cause most genital warts and most cervical cancer. Having the vaccine doesn't guarantee that you'll never get genital warts or cervical cancer, but it greatly decreases the risk.

Yes, it will hurt a little, as all injections do, and you must get all three jabs for the vaccine to be really effective. I'm not a fan of needles either, but I had the vaccine. I've had female friends who got HPV before the vaccine came out. It's terrible for them to be 20 years old and worrying about how they are going to tell every future sex partner that they have an STD. Not to mention the ones that got high-risk strains and have to have pre-cancerous cells cut or frozen off their cervix. In my opinion, a couple seconds of pain is worth it to avoid that.
