My girlfriend was diagnosed with HPV in January 2008. We used to be sexually active until about August 2008. Recently she has been having concerns about us being sexually active with each other. Is it still ok for us to be active with each other since we have the same strain of HPV or is it potentially harmfull for us to be sexually active. She is worried that by being sexually active with each other that we are making the problem worse and that we won't be able to heal or get rid of the virus. Please give as much of an indepth medical answer as possible.
as long as you both are using condoms, things are ok and you wont get hpv, since men can't be diagnosed like women can , what hpv type does she have? there are different types and oral sex you can get hpv as well.
I'm going to have to totally disagree with the previous poster. Since you two have already been sexually active, wearing a condom will not keep you from getting HPV - you even write that you already have the same strain. Condoms are not much good for protecting against hpv, unfortunately.
Anyway, since you already have it, you can't re-infect each other. You didn't say what kind you have but as far as I know, eating foods high in anti-oxidants and staying healthy should be good for fighting any kind.
I have high risk, my bf knows it. We have unprotected sex. We are only with each other.
I dont even know if I still have it. Point is. I feel as long as you two are faithful and only with each other, than yes enjoy yourself. Cant re-infect each other. I understand how she may feel. Its not an easy thing to hear. There is alot of answers online. best to you both
