Re: How is HPV first contacted?
Hello stormkat, I have been told similar stories by healthcare professionals to what you have explained. One of the stories was about a couple who was abstinent, she found out she had HPV and they demanded it was not possible but it was-----they both insist they never had sex but did have some sexual contact (hand job, touching). Another story was of a lady in her late 60's, her husband had passed away a few years before she was diagnosed with HPV and their only sexual partners were eachother. They say HPV is so common but they don't have answers to questions like this. Unless either of you had sexual contact with another person (any skin to skin contact) then I do believe one of you carried it and passed it on. Warts on your hands are different strains than those on your genitals, so I don't think that would be a cause (could be wrong). Just to let you know my situtation, I was married over 16 years before I found out I had HPV, I had warts, if we played the blame game I would have looked like the guilty one and I've never had sex with anybody but my husband since before we were married. He has never had genital warts. There is some information on HPV if you go to the center for disease control.
