| Re: Pap, HPV = Stress
Hi Kimie, I think you are wise to call the doctor's office to ask for the test results. The pathology/biopsy report usually comes in quickly, it it usually the turn around time at the doctor's office where the slow down occurs. I also figure that if I call them, then I am prepared for whatever results they can give me. If they call me, I'm caught unprepared (mentally).
In a way your friend is correct. HPV is so prevalent that most sexually active people have been exposed to it at some point in their life. Most people fight the virus and it doesn't cause problems (even though it can lay inactive for years and decades). BUT, it isn't something I'd brush aside like I would a cold. I can't tell you the date of my last cold, but I can tell you the dates for my positive high risk HPV test, (the pap where the sample was taken), the date of my colposcopy, my cold knife cone biopsy, my cancer diagnosis date, my second cone biopsy, and my hysterectomy! (and I've never missed a pap and they've always been good for 25 years - I'm 45).
Anyway, call the doctor and report back to us, ok? I'm hoping everything is fine! (((hug)))
