I just found out a few hours ago that I have HPV. Do I need to notify my previous sexual partners immediately?

I know that there is not a cure for HPV, but will I have to live with this forever? Could it possibly go away?

My thoughts are no you do not need to notify your previous partners, most likely they have been exposed if they've had mulitple partners, whether it was you or somebody else. There is no way to pinpoint when or whom you/he got it from. Do you have high risk or low risk?

As far as I understand they (health care professionals) cannot give us the answer whether or not we will always have it or it will go away. I know because I've asked! There is information saying that the body can rid itself of HPV but on the other hand also information that it can lie dormant and 'come out' at anytime, especially when your immune system is weakened. Clear as mud right!?! Hopefully there will be more research done and more concrete answers to questions like these because it is all to vague and inconclusive at this point-----the worst part is some doctors also seem ill informed and pass on bad information.

i have 2 strands one high risk and one low risk... i have no idea how that happened. i also had an irregular pap with precancerous cells. i got the HPV shots without looking into it to make sure that they were safe. a friend's father is a doctor on a research team that is looking into the Gardasil shots. they are saying that the precancerous cells that i have may have been caused by the shot itself. if this is even thought to be the case at all how could the FDA approve this for young women? it is supposed to prevent cancer..not cause it.

about the whole telling my partners... the types that i have do not effect men but they cause cancer in women. i think for the sake of their future partners i should tell them. but i will definitely ask my doctor first.

I find it hard to believe the vaccine causes precancerous cells, the shots only cover you from a few strains of HPV and there are many. Too much bad information out there! Good luck.

If you have had any sexual contact (manual stimulation, oral stimulation, genital stimulation, any of those with or without penetration) then that is how you might have been exposed any/all strains of HPV>
