My wife and I have been together for five years. About A year ago my wife had an outbreak. She went to the doc and had them removed. About a month or two after she had them removed. I had an outbreak.
Three or four months before she showed symtoms, she went to Vegas for her 21st b-day for a week with a couple of her girlfriends. I trust her, but this makes me wonder. What do you think? Is it possible to have it for years and only be with the same partner for 5 years and then both have an outbreak of hpv?

anything is possible!

from what i hear, hpv could be dormant for years, and then outbreak. Also, she could have had it for years, and maybe had one wart that she never noticed. I was just diagnosed with genital warts, and the dr. says I could have had it for years.

You really never know with HPV. Its kinda a mystery disease!

Hi Dandy, we have a lady who is very active on this board who has been in a monagmous marriage for 16 years and she recently had a genital wart. Her husband never had one.

So, yes, it is possible even for low risk HPV (that can cause warts) to not show up for years or decades.
