| Re: Transmission
While you have not mentioned the time interval between PAP's, unfotunately, you have probably already passed the HPV to your partner, or they may have given it to you. It is virtually impossible to determine from whom one contracts HPV since it can remains dormant for years before showing symptoms. The appearance of symptoms therefore does not necessarily coincide with whom you are with at the time as being the one from whom you got it. Abstinence from sexual intercourse will not prevent the transmission of HPV either because it is passed through skin to skin contact and not necessarily through intercourse. It can be passed through oral sex, touching the affected area with your hand or other body part even without intercourse. The only was to be sure not to contract hPV is to never have any type of sexual activity period. Using a condom is always advised to prevent other diseases as well but will not necessarily prevent anyone from contracting HPV because it can be in the tissue at the base of the condom covered penis which you would still come in contact with during intercouse. Hope this helps.
