Ok, so ive been told I have HPV, what type or how bad I do not know as of yet. The specialist said that you can't get rid of it. Then I talked to my doctor and he said that it takes about 18-24months for the body to build up anti bodies to fight this thing off. That confuses the hell out of me! So does that mean I become somewhat of a carrier? He also said that the redness and itching around my anus will go away. Is this true? I sure hope so! To my recolections I have had this for about 18months already maybe more, so if my doc is right it should be out the door hopefully soon so to speak.

Also, my cells are abnormal, does this increase my chances of having high risk HPV?

For most people and most strains, it does eventually go away. How long this takes is somewhat variable. Eating nutritious food and getting adequate sleep may help it go away faster.

"Go away" and "clear" are all relative.

The virus stays with you for life. Your body can fight the virus so that it doesn't cause future problems. That's what most people do. There are other people who are not able to fight the virus so it begins causing problems.

Think of it like chicken pox. It is a virus. The virus stays with a person. He/she might have problems later in life from the virus, but then it is called shingles. For most people, they don't have problems with shingles later in life.
