"Atypical" encompasses both high and low grade. The cells are atypical, but it cannot be determined exactly how atypical. Atypical doesn't really tell you if you're getting or worse. Sorry!
This is a common result from a pap smear. Pap smears can tell you something's up, but they really aren't that specific. You really need a biopsy to confirm whether the changes are high grade or low grade.
