I'm kind of confused, my boyfriend confessed to me, AFTER we had already had unprotected sex, that he has HPV. I have no idea what to do, I'm scared and I ask him questions and he just says

Im very sorry to hear that you have been informed of your potential HPV exposure in this manner. This speaks volumes about your "boyfriend" who obviously didn't have the guts (I'd like to use another word here) to inform you before you had sex (though you can contract HPV just from skin to skin contact). If it were me, I'd be showing him the door. Never-the-less, this puts you at significant risk for HPV yourself. Since your post was cut off I don't know what he said to you. I'd suggest you make an appointment for a Pap and HPV test. Sorry but I have little to no tolerance for people who behave in such an irresponsible way with other peoples health (namely yours in this case).

Do you know if he is positive for high risk or low risk HPV?

Ok... so it's a long and complicated story and yes I should show him the door but at least he did tell me. The only thing he told me was I should get tested, which I am going to in a few days, and he did tell me that I should be able to get a vaccine for it... all I know is he said he had the one (HPV) that causes cervical cancer... so I'm assuming that would be high risk? I am going to the doctor to get a pap and HPV test, and they said they would give me information but there is so much information out there... I'm all confused!! Some people say I can only catch it at certain times if he is sort of having a "flare up"... others say I can catch it at any time. HELP!

The truth is no one really know when you can catch it and when you can't.

Wouldn't have been nice to be able to get the vaccine before you had unprotected sex with him???

You might have HPV and you might not. Heck, you could have had before this incident. Most sexually active people have some type of HPV.

The good news is that it is highly likely that your body will fight this off and it will never cause problems. Just make sure you get regular paps and HPV tests.

And I very much echo the other ladies' sentiments: please get rid of him!
