when a women is pregnant and has hpv genital warts does she have to have a C section

My understanding is that it is probably better for the child. With active genital warts it is possible to pass the virus along to the child. It usually manifests itself in some sort of growth in the lungs which can be a real problem. I don't remember what it is called though. If I were pregnant, and had genital warts, I would certainly opt to have the Csection.

C-section is only required if you have active vaginal warts otherwise you can have a vaginal delivery. The condition which infants/children can develop is called respiratory/laryngeal papillomatosis. This usually manifests itself by the age of four and just like the genital warts, it causes warts within the larynx, throat and sometimes the lungs. JORRP (juvenile onset recurrent respiratory papillomatosis) is far more severe than the AORRP (adult onset RRP). It requires the debulking of the warty growths with laser. Eventually patients usually go into remission however in 3-5% of the cases it can degrade into squamous cell cancer.
