| Re: hpv/dysplasia and increased chances of cervical cancer
Not directly, but researchers are looking at families to see if/why some women are more prone to getting cervical cancer (or other types of cancers for that matter).
Cervical cancer is caused (99% of th time) by HPV. So a woman must be exposed to HPV to end up with cervical cancer. But I suspect you know this. As an aside, you know HPV can cause other cancers, too, right?
I'm glad your doctor is doing a follow up. How long as it been since your last colpo? Do you have an appointment for this one yet? Do you know what type of dysplasia you were diagnosed with? glandular or squamous?
