| Re: Are warts on your hand a form of HPV?
Scared - don't be too worried. Yes, those warts could have been caused by HPV, but there's over a hundred strains, and each strain has particular preferences. For that reason, the "non-STD" strains that prefer the skin of the hands, feet, or other non-genital regions very very rarely cause genital infections. Almost everyone gets a non-genital wart or two at some point...it's nothing to be worried about, and the chances that you gave your BF genital warts from a childhood incident are practically zero.
Also, since you had a single wart a long time ago and it hasn't recurred, it's pretty safe to assume that your body fought off that strain of HPV and it's probably gone from your body by now. It is much more likely that he has exposed you to the strain he is obviously carrying - low-risk HPV that causes genital warts is rarely tested for, the symptoms are just treated, and you may never get symptoms. Use protection to lessen the chances of contracting it if you want to still be with him.
