I don't understand "high risk for HPV".
Anyone who has had sexual contact (and not just sexual intercourse), especially if that person has had sexual contact with more than one person at any point in his/her life is high risk for having been exposed to HPV.
Perhaps you mean you have high risk HPV (which is different from low risk HPV which can cause warts). High risk HPV can lead to cancer in worst case scenarios.
Once you have HPV, you have it. Of course, there are many different strains of HPV. It is possible to have one (or 2, or 3, etc) strains of HPV without having all of them.
