| Re: I have just been told by my OB that I tested positive for HPV.
I have the cancer causing type myself and have done my homework on it. The cancer causing types are rare so call me Ms. Lucky, but hopefully not you. The most common types are warting types, and only strains 16 (mine) and 18 cause cancer. 18 may also cause flat warts but will not really affect aesthetics like other warting types, just give you a plucked chicken look. When I was at my sickest I couldn't take a one mile walk. I love to take long 4.5 mile walks to keep fit, but I would get tired and would bleed a lot. I was shown to still be precancerous, but it took months to stop the bleeding and I lost a lot of blood in months due to my own exercise regimen. I just had my second cryosurgery on this past Tuesday. I have to go in for more tests to rule out throat and brain cancers I guess, or at least that's what the doc told me. It gets scary, and I was tested within months of contracting it. I know who gave it to me and he tried to pass the buck. I have had sex with now three people, thanks to alcohol and yes he still knew my status, at the time of contraction two and the first one had been a virgin like me. The second one was in the Navy, you do the math. That is what battling CIN is like when it gets bad.
Understand you need to keep calm, try to live the healthiest lifestyle possible and for goodness sakes if you aren't on birth control get on it even if you don't plan to have sex. Birth control is your number one fighter as I have been told by three specialists now, and take good vitamins. If you'd like the regimen I take and has helped me enormously I will send you the vitamins and schedule. I take roughly 11 vit. pills daily out of the 14 I started with, mainly due to finances. You can do this, you can beat this. I believe in you, now you gotta too. God bless!
