I have just been told by my OB that I tested positive for HPV.

I have been feeling very sick lately and tired and very weak. I went to my OB and she ran a bunch of test on me which the first tests indicated my white blood cells have been progressively increasing since 2007. I was told to go see my primary ASAP. Well he looked over the blood work and thought there was no concern so turned me away.

I frantically drove to my OB's office and spoke with her, she is a very concerned and caring DR. I told her what had happend at my primary Dr's and she sugested it was time for me to find a new Dr. because obviousley there is something very bad going on in my body and it can not be ignored. At that time she had given me the results of my PAP, I tested possitive for HPV, even though I took all those shots to prevent it, I still got it. I know it is going to take a lot of testing and time to figure out if I have the cancer or not but I was just wondering, with my other symptoms could this be for sure cancer? I am a very impatent person, I need to know know. Please

no your symptoms don't at all indicate cancer. it could be a number of things. only certain types of HPV cause cancer, do you have the types that do? I do, I went thru the treatments for the warts (which I didn't know I had). if you get a yearly pap chances are if it was cancer it wouldv'e been caught by now. i would only give it a couple of days and call the dr for the results. mine told me they usually get the results back in a day or two on a colposcopy

Re: I have just been told by my OB that I tested positive for HPV.

I have the cancer causing type myself and have done my homework on it. The cancer causing types are rare so call me Ms. Lucky, but hopefully not you. The most common types are warting types, and only strains 16 (mine) and 18 cause cancer. 18 may also cause flat warts but will not really affect aesthetics like other warting types, just give you a plucked chicken look. When I was at my sickest I couldn't take a one mile walk. I love to take long 4.5 mile walks to keep fit, but I would get tired and would bleed a lot. I was shown to still be precancerous, but it took months to stop the bleeding and I lost a lot of blood in months due to my own exercise regimen. I just had my second cryosurgery on this past Tuesday. I have to go in for more tests to rule out throat and brain cancers I guess, or at least that's what the doc told me. It gets scary, and I was tested within months of contracting it. I know who gave it to me and he tried to pass the buck. I have had sex with now three people, thanks to alcohol and yes he still knew my status, at the time of contraction two and the first one had been a virgin like me. The second one was in the Navy, you do the math. That is what battling CIN is like when it gets bad.

Understand you need to keep calm, try to live the healthiest lifestyle possible and for goodness sakes if you aren't on birth control get on it even if you don't plan to have sex. Birth control is your number one fighter as I have been told by three specialists now, and take good vitamins. If you'd like the regimen I take and has helped me enormously I will send you the vitamins and schedule. I take roughly 11 vit. pills daily out of the 14 I started with, mainly due to finances. You can do this, you can beat this. I believe in you, now you gotta too. God bless!
