I am a lesbian, a while ago I gave oral sex to this girl. A couple days later she told me that she had HPV. I am worried that I could have caught something from her. There was no genital to genital contact whatsoever. But is it possible for me to have caught something for giving the oral sex?
Does your partner have high risk HPV or low risk HPV? I have high risk HPV, and I know that it can be transmitted through saliva. However, there is no saliva test to see if HPV is present or not, so knowing for sure is not likely. 80% of all sexually active women have active HPV at some point in their lives and doent know it.
My advice, is to ask your partner questions. And to get the oral cancer gargle test when at the dentist for cleanings. Having HPV in the saliva is not a guarantee by any means that you will ever have or obtain oral cancer. HPV has been linked to some forms of oral cancer, so it is always better to be safe than sorry.
HPV is transmitted by skin to skin contact, not body fluids. So it is reasonable to think that you were exposed to the same strain(s) of HPV that she has (and she was exposed to any that you might have). That doesn't mean either of you will ever have a problem because of the virus. There is no sure-fire way to know.
it is always possible to contract hiv and other stds. oral sex is the same as vaginal or anal sex. most lesbians think that they are safe, but the truth is, you have the same risk as heterosexuals. If this girl has hpv, im quite sure she hasnt always bee a lesbian. take tns as heterosexuals. use a female condom. you just never know.
