Hpv conclusive test?

Hey there! I'm just wondering. Is there a conclusive week or days to test or Hpv? I mean, if there was a suspicious contact with someone, and I did a high risk Hpv test like 1 week later through penis swab. Is that conclusive enough?

Re: Hpv conclusive test?

Yeah, I know there's a conclusive test for females- in fact it is recommended annually for all females over age 35.
It is my understanding that it can also be done on males, but it far more invasive (involving, as you stated, some sort of swab or brush inserted far into the urethra).

However, assuming you can find a doctor willing to perform this test on you... it should be just as conclusive as an HPV test performed on a woman; in other words, very conclusive.

Good luck!

Re: Hpv conclusive test?

Hey kali thank for the reply! Yes I did have a utheral swab test after 1 week or 9 days of possible exposure. I went back 3 month later for further checkup, but he didn't screen me for a Hpv test. So I'm just curious if it's so conclusive at 1 week.

Ooh. Good question.
Not sure; I suspect not. That seems too soon. But you'd really have to ask your doctor to know for sure.
On another note, I really respect the fact that you care enough to go through this testing. Many men couldn't care less whether they have it, since it doesn't really cause symptoms in men (the high risk type, anyway).
It shows respect for your future female partners that you care enough to find out, and avoid exposing them to a virus that can cause cervical cancer.

best of luck!
