| HIV and HPV and Anal Sex
I was diagnosed with HIV and HPV (internal and external anal warts) 5 years ago. I was able to clear up the HPV about 4 years ago after a painful excision and a couple minor freeze outs. However the HPV is back. I've had two painful excisions under anesthesia and the doctor says I'm in Stage II. It's been 7 months now and I'm discouraged as the doctor seems to think that this could go on for a long time and that it's impossible to eliminate with HIV patients. I'm wondering if I will ever be able to have receptive anal sex again without severe pain? Will I be contagious if I am able to get rid of the warts but not the virus?. Will I have to have these painful (and expensive) excisions every few months? The doctor told me that I could get rid of the warts, but I'd always have the virus and he used the word lesions as well. Will this always cause me pain when I'm the receiver of anal sex? Should I expect that I won't be able to have it again? My viral load is undetectable and T Cells are good. I've been on meds about 9 months now. Please help
