| Abnormal cells/HPV
Today I was told I have LSIL (abnormal cells), and that this is caused by HPV. My doctor gave me most of the information and I am not so worried, as it sounds like it will go away.
However, some of the things she told me were a bit confusing. I have been with my boyfriend for a year now, and we have both been faithful. I am not sure how long I have had HPV or how I got it. I was told that my boyfriend most likely has it too. She did not say anything about avoiding unprotected sex- does this mean since we both have HPV, that we don't need to be worried about protection?
I realize protection is important and I'm sure the lack of it is what got me in this mess, but we have not used it for the past 6 months and am unsure if this means we need to start.
My doctor also stressed to not smoke. My boyfriend is a heavy smoker, and she stressed that I must not be around his smoke, or have unprotected sex with him (until he quits smoking), and I can't kiss him after he smokes unless he brushes his teeth.
How does his smoking effect the unprotected sex? Is avoiding smoke really as important as she is making it sound?
I am looking up information on the internet as well, but I wasn't able to find answers to all of my questions.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
