Lightbulb HPV

I have HPV and Cervical Dysplasia. I have not yet had a LEEP, however, I do know (from a friend) that it causes cramps and you cannot exercise etc etc for a few weeks. If you are getting a LEEP - get an anaesthetic. Of course it is going to hurt - anything that is cut out is going to hurt. I have been to a few Doctors who have not helped me in the slightest. All the information I know on HPV etc (which I think is quite a bit) is due to my own research.
Depending which country you live in, there are a few alternatives. I have found quite a few Clinical Trials in America in relation to Dysplasia. There are very few on HPV at the moment though.
I have researched a site www.alotek.com which sells a product called Betamannan. I don't know whether it works yet - I have just started taking it 2 weeks ago. They say it takes about 3 months to get rid of it - I will let you all know.
I have had a colposcopy - which to me felt as if I was just getting a Pap Smear - I am sure there is not much difference. The DR put some vinegar stuff there so that the bad Cells would show up. He then told me not to worry (as they do) as they were not bad. Low and behold when I called for my results, he said they were worse than he thought.
All I can say is never trust only 1 Doctors opinion.
For external Genital Warts, there is a cream called Aldara. You have to get a prescription from your DR, it is also quite expensive. I used it for 4 weeks, but didn't see a change in the Warts.
I will now wait until next week when I have an appointment with my new DR (one which I researched very well), and I will discuss the treatment with him.
I may try a clinical trial first before I do a LEEP. I am sure it is worth the try, if a DR makes a small mistake with a LEEP, you may never be able to have children.
Also, for females, be sure to eat alot of Cartonoid rich foods / vitamins (Including Betacarotene (A), Folate, Vitamin C, Vitamin E). I have read alot on them, and they may help prevent Cancers etc.
Its all worth a try!!!

I too have had Cervical Dysplasia. Mine occurred while I was pregnant. I had to wait until after my son was born before I could have the LEEP procedure done so that I would not have a miscarriage. By the time I found out that I had Cervical Dysplasia, it was already pretty bad. I had to have colposcopy's every few weeks until my son was born because the cancer was growing so fast. The LEEP procedure was painful, but I was extremely relived to have my cancer removed. After it was removed I had to have follow up pap smears several times for the few years that followed, and the cancer has not returned. My best friend had Cervical Dysplasia too, before I met her, and hers has not returned either. I also think that taking antioxidants can not hurt, especially Selenium, Beta Carotene, B-12, and Vitamins A, C, and E that are all said to be cancer fighters. I have never felt better since I started taking antioxidants.

This is the first time I have seen a post with someone who has HPV and Cervical Dysplasia.

For a while I was thinking that a lot of people (women) don’t get both that often. Meaning cervical Dysplasia and visible warts.
Good to find someone in the same predicament.

Good luck with everything. I get the results from my first follow up Pap smear (since my cryotherapy) in a few days. It's pretty much killing my nerves waiting for the results.

I too had HPV and mild (but heading toward severe) cervical displaysia. Generally they go hand in hand in most cases (cervical cases that is), according to my doc...however, I didn't have visible warts. My HPV was a strain that was causing visible damage to cells on my cervix but no typical visible "warts" to speak of.

I totally agree with you Suzan, it's amazing the complete LACK of information you get from your doctors about HPV. Everything I know (which I actually considert to be very little) I found out on my own. There is just NOT a lot of info out there, and typical with every uterus/cervix related issue, no one seems to be doing enough research about it. That's my own personal grr.

I too take a lot of vitamins and it seems to help, if nothing else than for over all health. I am a big proponnent of vitamins, healthy eating and even homeopathy to keep your whole body balance in check. (Although it took having a string of bad health issues to get me there.) And I quit smoking, which interestingly enough (and no one will tell you) is one of the biggest causes of uterine cancer these days. You hear smoking = heart disease/lung disease/lung cancer, but no one says smoking = uterine/cervical cancer. Did that scare me? You bet it did.

Good luck on your results Snuggles...I am in the same boat. My follow up pap is in June, and that sure feels like a long wait to know if I'm healthy or not!

Talking

Got my results back!!! It came back Satisfactory, within normal bounds, no bad inside cervical stuff found. I don’t know the exact terminology, the doctor just read the results, and explained them to me over the phone. I'm happy, hope I get the same results six months from now.
